Spiritual Ecology
In this modern world of electronic gizmos, spiritual ecology is our way of life. Even the simplest of electronic devices, such as a clock radio, uses electricity to keep the clock on the radio going. The'magic' of this device is that it makes electricity 'just happen' when it is needed. There is an element of "serendipity" in this usage of electricity.
The world is full of electronic gizmos that make the tasks of daily life much easier. These gizmos, in turn, are making the world a more environmentally friendly place. But there is always a point where gizmos become so convenient that they begin to take over our life and reduce our connection with the world of nature. If we allow gizmos to become so dominate our lives, our relationship with nature is, in essence, robbed from us.
We should not be so quick to turn over the controls of our life to the convenience of the gizmos. We should pay close attention to what sort of gizmos are being sold to us. If a gizmo has a built-in use of electricity to keep it going, we should consider whether we really want to live in such a world where everything happens on our schedule.
We are fortunate to live in a time when there are many alternatives to using electricity for gizmos. We should not be afraid to make sacrifices in order to buy a less gizmo-dominated world. We should not be afraid to use those gizmos that are not based on electricity, such as oil, gas or coal. The world of gizmos is not our only world, as long as we can see the forest for the trees.
We can make a difference by adopting the use of gizmos that are based on renewable energy sources. If we, as people, take control of our lives, we can become part of creating a better world for future 01e38acffe
